Tomatoes!

Last weekend, Mr. Enstone brought me a fabulous box of homegrown tomatoes. They were incredibly beautiful, but for reason I didn't think to take a photo until after I'd eaten every single one of the darling little gold teardrops and made a substantial dent in the rest.
Today he brought a fresh box, as well as another huge bunch of basil. After he left, the first thing I did was to take a picture before I forgot. He said it was half of their latest pick, and that they may be the last ones, as he and his wife are going out of town. I hope their neighbors go by to check for any more; it would be a shame for stragglers to go to waste.

Last Sunday afternoon, Gary and I had the best "Big Tomato Sandwich" ever. Since then, we've had caprese, salads, you name it, tomatoes at nearly every meal. They're absolutely delicious.
Here is a Brandywine cut in half. In just a minute, I'm going to sprinkle it with salt & pepper and eat it. YUM! These are such a treat and have perked up my saggly spirits.
